I’m Marek Reinhold, a senior Java backend engineer and tech lead with 8+ years of building backend systems in fintech and public-sector integrations. Before software I spent about ten years at sea as a watchkeeping deck officer on RoRo and passenger vessels — which is where I learned checklists, handovers and staying calm when something critical fails.

These runbooks are how I’m growing into platform engineering: learning to own the deployment, security, observability and recovery of the systems I build, and writing each step down so others can follow it.

Everything here is built in my own homelab and personal AWS accounts. Nothing on this site comes from, or describes, any employer’s systems.
